Be nice to yourself

Be nice to yourself or I’ll smack you!

Girl has painted herself in the corner

Years ago I heard Michael Beckwith say that we should to “paint ourselves into a corner” of inspiration, affirmations, and reminders that life is good… So that when we are hit from left field with intense drama (like being evacuated from our home due to the nearness of an out of control, raging fire on a scorching 95 degree summer day in a parched dessert), we can grab ahold of the kite string that tethers us to higher thoughts to-just in time- keep us from slipping into the quicksand of depression and despair.

You may have seen my Facebook posts last weekend sharing that along with 5,000 other residents we were evacuated from our homes-but thanks to the best firemen in the world, all of our homes are in tact. I’m so grateFULL for the blessing of having a home, for morning fog that acts as a cooling balm for this thirsty land, and for all hero’s everywhere who put their lives in danger to save others…and for the corner I’ve painted myself into that keeps me breathing and relatively peaceful when the BLEEP hits the fan.

But, it wasn’t always like this. Once upon a time, I was painted into a corner of self-loathing, self-criticism, and I let my mind run away with me like a train off the rails with negativity and stinkin’ thinkin’ that convinced me that I shouldn’t be on the planet.

Thanks to the divine intervention of some incredible spiritual teachers/counselors/therapists that gave me a spiritual smack upside the head and reminded me to be kind to myself, or else, I have painted myself into a corner that has LIFE IS GOOD written on the wall, and it’s become (annoying to some) my default ! I talk a bit about the turn around from #DramaQueen to #GoddessQueen (to #DreamQueen) in this video:
