“I’ve dreamt in my life dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas: they’ve gone through and through me, like wine through water, and altered the color of my mind.” -Emily Bronte
The bottom line about dream work is that the dream doesn’t have to be over just because you woke up.
If the dream was unpleasant, then (as mentioned in the previous program) you can go back in, through meditation and re-direct your dream to a more fulfilling and joyous conclusion.
However, if your dream is a pleasant one, as in a flying dream, a dream of amassing a great fortune, meeting a dream lover, spending time with a departed loved one or the Dali Lama, making a wonderful discovery, (even great sex), then by all means, DON’T LEAVE THAT DREAM ON THE PILLOW! Like the old American express cards commercials, “Don’t leave home without it!”
When you court your delicious dream you are like a honeybee extracting the pollen from a rose. Fly right into the center of it, breathe in as much of the nectar with you as you can, let its dust get all over you, eat it up, drink it down, digest it, and be altered by it. Like the above mentioned Emily Bronte quotation (and I paraphrase), let it go through and through you, like wine through water, and let it alter the color of your mind, body, soul, and spirit…in fact let it raise the vibration of your DNA and your entire chemical make up. And once you’ve absorbed this nectar fully and are brimming over with dream honey, share this sweetness with others…either by telling he tale of your dream, or simply by sharing your elevated energy…action, after all, speaks louder than words.
So far, this has been about elevating your energy and feeling level. But, for those of you bottom-line pragmatists that want to know, “How is this going to enhance my bottom line?” Well, did you know that in his mega-bestselling book, “Think & Grow Rich” Napoleon Hill interviewed and researched over 500 of the most successful people in history to determine what common attributes they shared that allowed them to create such prosperity and purpose-driven lives. Can you guess one attribute they all had in common?
All of those highlighted in “Think & Grow Rich” had developed a highly tuned intuition (aka the ability to tap into their gut feelings and act on their inner-guidance). Can you guess one of the best-kept secrets to building your intuition muscles?
You guessed it: Dream Recall. Not just any ‘ol dream recall…but the recall of these life-altering dreams.
Did you know that Albert Einstein attributes, not only his theory of relativity to his dreaming mind, but he credits all of his contributions to physics and science to a wonderful dream he had as a young boy?
As a teenager, young Einstein dreamed he was sledding down a snow covered slope and as he began picking up speed, he went faster and faster until he was going the speed of light…he began to see colors he had never seen before and to feel and energy he had never felt before. Toward the end of his life he confided to a colleague that that dream was what propelled him and guided him along his entire professional scientific journey.
There is a saying, “Many are called, but few answer.” This is true with the Dream Maker’s Call. You are all being called every night to peek behind the curtains and glimpse the larger story of your life.
People often ask me, “How can I deliberately set myself up to dream about things that will elevate my life and help me accomplish the goals I am working on in the daytime?”
To them I reply, “The Dream Maker and our dreaming mind’s have a mind of their own. And we want to keep it that way. However, I have found it to be beneficial to do the work, to the best of your ability in your waking life, to raise your vibration and go to sleep with thoughts that inspire you.
Every person, without exception, can transform any fragility to fortune, tragedy to triumph, and drama to phenomena. Maximizing the accessibility of your subconscious mind in the moments prior to sleep and during sleep is one of the fastest ways to improve your life. Most people have seen or at least heard about the vastly popular movie and bestselling book entitled, “The Secret.” Created by Rhonda Byrne and inspired by the work of Abraham-Hicks, The Secret reveals that the knowledge of the Law of Attraction has been the basis of all great things that have ever been accomplished throughout history. The secret behind the secret is that if you are not getting the life circumstancesyou want, then you are not a vibrational match to those circumstances. This is the good news and the bad news. The bad news is that you are not a vibrational match to the results you desire (ouch). However the good news is that this change in your vibration is completely under your control.
One way to set the stage for a dream to elevate your vibration is to create a Dream Collage and meditate on it before you drift into Dreamland. Here are the steps:
1. Download the free “O Dream “ application on your computer: http://www.oprah.com/spirit/O-Dream-Board-Envision-Your-Best-LifeTM) and fill it with images that inspire you. Or you can do it old school, and simply cut out images from magazines, or compile images from the Internet into a desktop folder) and paste them on a poster board.
2. Look at your Dream Collage for 2-3 minutes before going to sleep. Meditate and marinate on the FEELING TONE that your Dream Collage evokes in you (imagining that your vision is already realized and how GOOOOOOOD it feels) as you drift of to dreamland.
3. Go to sleep or take a nap (that is the easy part!)
4. Upon awakening, write down your dreams (or any snippets you are able to recall from your dreamtime).
***Bonus points: if you spend a few minutes interpreting your dream (i.e. you can reference “I Had The Strangest Dream” to help in the investigation process–If you’d like the pdf version of this-let me know and I’ll send it to you for free…if you want to purchase the paperback for ease of use you can get it on amazon.com or on my website: http://kellysullivanwalden.com/dream-book.html/)
5. If there is a significant image from your dream (i.e. ruby slippers, a bumble bee, ect) then add that image to your Dream Collage as a way of telling your subconscious mind that you are paying attention and that you are willing to see the ways in which this dream image might be a clue to helping you manifest your desire.
In a real sense all life is interrelated. All men (and women) are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be, and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be. This is the inter-related structure of reality.
~Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
